The Student Support Specialist is a full-time grant-funded position responsible for providing direct advising and counseling services to students enrolled in the two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program at HCC, advising them in course selection, making educational plans, assisting them in the potential career and transfer possibilities, and counseling and case management services while in the community college setting. In addition, this position assists in recruiting new students to the two-year pathway and works with baccalaureate colleges and universities to aid in student transition to BSN programs.

Education and experience- Master's degree in Education required, with a degree in counseling preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with students in a higher education setting; knowledge and experience working with a student database system (Datatel/WebNow).
Skills and abilities - Interpersonal skills to guide students in their academic decision-making; excellent organizational and planning skills in dealing with the career and transfer student population; advising and communication skills to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrator, coaches, and community leaders; good computer skills, especially in the use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, internet and email.
