CCA is seeking an experienced, highly-skilled Creative Director to lead the effort to develop and maintain a consistent and compelling CCA brand experience across print, digital and website touch points. Working closely with the Art Director and Sr. Copywriter, the Creative Director will help conceptualize and lead the execution of marketing collateral, direct mail, print and web display advertising, cca.edu content, multimedia and immersive brand experiences. The Director will play a crucial leadership role in the next redesign of the College's main website.
This is a hands-on position and successful candidates will be able to lead and inspire great creative that supports strategic business goals as well as be able to institute streamlined workflow processes between production, creatives and clients.
The Director collaborates closely with the Art Director, and is a close partner to fellow marketing leads to ensure that optimum verbal and visual consistency, college identity, and brand messaging are incorporated into the college's major external print and digital communications. The Director oversees the creative team and directly manages the Art Director, Project Manager, and Sr. Copywriter.
Brand Implementation & Management 50% Ensure verbal and visual brand alignment across the college's major external print and digital communications.
Influence and help guide the verbal and visual expression of the brand on the market facing website from a user-centric perspective.
Implement and socialize the brand across campus including brand training workshops, overseeing the creation and annual refresh of DIY toolkits, cheat sheets and preferred vendor lists.
Identify opportunities and activate the new brand on select touch points including signage and other internal and external expressions of the brand.
Identify and develop experiential opportunities to build brand affinity with our internal community and alumni association.
Ensure key messages from the brand messaging map are implemented clearly, consistently, and compellingly in external-facing marketing communications.
Leadership & Collaboration 50% Lead the creative staff in all aspects of editorial, design and production including strategy, conceptualization, and execution of projects.
Collaborate with the Art Director on branding and overall College aesthetic to ensure the group develops and delivers creative leadership and solutions that strengthen the College's brand and differentiate it from peer institutions
Understand and support the business context and goals for creative efforts
Interact effectively as a creative expert with all levels of management and staff
Provide counsel, strategy, and direction on editorial and design considerations for the website and other digital communications
Oversee the creative team and directly manage Project Manager, Art Director, and Sr. Copywriter; seek opportunities to improve process as well as product
Inspire and guide the creative team to creative excellence as both a mentor and contributor; foster teamwork and idea exchange
Work closely with the content marketing team to conceive digital media storytelling ideas to showcase faculty, student and alumni success
Work closely with the Digital Content Director to bring the brand to life on the website in both verbal and visual expressions.
Work closely with the VP MarCom Strategy to support the website redesign
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.A. / B.F.A. Minimum ten years of design leadership experience, preferably in an agency –with significant experience managing teams throughout a project lifecycle Outstanding interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and to share ideas with individuals at all levels Demonstrate initiative and creativity, anticipate and implement next steps on projects, seek and seize opportunities for improvements in process as well as product Strong problem solving skills, ability to understand and identify key strategic issues, and develop creative design and editorial solutions Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines Experience creating and exploring ways to influence/enforce use of branding/identity style guides Must be comfortable and experienced influencing/guiding Web site design from an aesthetic as well as practicality and functionality perspective; interacting with Marketing and Technology colleagues, as well as College stakeholders, on Web site priorities and project management; and influencing (although not directly overseeing) content planning and execution, including multimedia development, for institutional Web sites and social media vehicles Must be proactive and strategic, fast and nimble in working with project stakeholders to understand their needs and to best address target audiences, and will lead the creative team to be highly skilled and valued partners to those stakeholders in these endeavors Exposure to/understanding of Web and browser technologies; awareness of and interest in new digital platforms and technologies
