Kentucky Children's Hospital – Performs quality control to assure accuracy of pediatric operations, including but not limited to, double checking pediatric chemotherapy orders, transcribing pediatric/neonatal TPN orders, remotely checking chemotherapy production, checking batched parenteral products, etc. Reviews, interprets, and verifies written and electronic orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed for admitted patients. Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Assists in medication reconciliation activities. Provides direction and supervision of technical staff and pharmacy interns, and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products. Maintains inventory and records of drug products.
Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.
