The Application Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to the College’s Membership Database, Accounting System, and HR Systems. The primary focus is on support and development of Aptify, our core membership system. This person in this position will troubleshoot and resolve problems within these software packages and serve as a liaison between Finance, IT and HR. Additionally; this person may propose and develop new applications and solutions in support of our I.T. systems. The Application Support Analyst will work with various software vendors to find solutions to different problems and will be responsible for communicating with management on status, issues and underlying process problems. They will be involved in the implementation of new systems, upgrading of current systems and the configuration of the integration between systems.
This exempt level position will report to the Manager, System Implementation and Support in the Division of Information Technology.
Provide support for Membership Database, Accounting Software, and HR software.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues while working with end-users on the SQL-based membership system.
Create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed to ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
Detect and reproduce software defects.
Recommend creative approaches to solving unique software problems while utilizing product functionality to the full extent.
Oversee implementations of new software or develop new systems to support our core business.
Develop web-based front ends in C# or similar languages and develop APIs to back-end databases.
Provide technical expertise on the implementation of new systems or the upgrade of existing systems.
Work with the vendor and department as the technical lead for Accounting and HR system implementations and upgrades.
Assist with the integration and configuration of systems.
Engage with the project team during implementation/upgrade phase.
Review functional and technical design documentation and assist with testing.
Manage third party vendors regarding system improvements, issue resolution, project timelines, and availability.
Provide detailed documentation and training.
Develop and maintain Application Support Standards, procedures, resolutions and training documentation as required.
Create and coordinate training with the end users of the new or upgraded software.
Work closely with the technical support team to provide training and documentation for software resolution, installation, and configurations providing them the knowledge enabling them to assist with the support functions.
Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assist in the development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
Serve as Business Analyst in developing new applications or solutions with our internal customers.
Be customer-focused and able to communicate effectively to gather or analyze technical problems and solutions.

Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum four years’ experience in a similar or related job field.
Experience with SQL and/or Oracle database schemas and SQL code.
Experience with .NET/ MVX framework experience is preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
Capable of providing excellent customer service.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Must be able to multi-task.
Display a high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.
Experience in Associations, professional services, healthcare, and/or education desired.
Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.
Other Necessary Requirements: Moderate evening or weekend duties may be required. Minimal travel for activities such as annual meetings is required.
