Governmental agency with $400 million in expenses and $1.4 billion in assets is seeking a professional to oversee an accounting staff and the preparation of financial statements for 4 business units, 2 non-profits and 3 self-insurance funds. Responsibilities include: meeting with operations staff to discuss financial matters, analyze financials, maintain internal controls, enforce US GAAP, coach and evaluate staff performance, assist with annual audit and make recommendations to Director on process improvements. Supervisory skills, public speaking, CPA and strong computer skills preferred. Position will interact with senior management and various internal departments.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (United States), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and interpretations as well as A-133 rules and regulations.
Comprehensive knowledge of Agency financial policy and procedures.
Knowledge of funding policies and procurement procedures of federal, state, and local funding sources and regulations.
Ability to supervise others, including able to evaluate, hire and oversee accounting contractors
Experience in multiple project management.
Ability to work with all levels of management and to deal effectively with people.
Ability to recognize and solve problems effectively.
Ability to work independently under pressure.
Ability to formulate data gathering and prepare clear, concise reports.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe
Eight (8) years, preferred. ERP system experience preferred, external audit experience preferred
Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field. Public Transportation or Governmental Accounting preferred.
