The Comprehensive Breast Care Center within the Markey Cancer Center is currently seeking an Insurance Authorization Specialist. This newly created position will work with patients and providers to ensure payment of tests and procedures prior to administration of test and/or procedures.
Duties for this position include: confirming all necessary information needed to properly perform and identify billing information needed to maintain compliance with institutional, state and federal practices, in addition to scheduling of exams.
This position will provide a professional point of contact, and serve as a liaison between the department and all referring offices by training and supporting referring clinic personnel on scheduling practices.
This position will also work with insurance companies and providers while obtaining and sharing current guidelines. Basic coding knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology is recommended, and excellent customer services skills are required.
Must have knowledge and experience in medical coding (ICD-10 and CPT) as well as medical terminology. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment are also required. Knowledge of the insurance authorization process, customer service skills.

Associates degree in a healthcare related field and 5 years of healthcare experience.
