The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks applicants for the position of Front Desk Receptionist in ECE Student Services. This position serves as first point of contact for visitors and provides support for operational functions. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing students, faculty, staff and other visitors to the appropriate location; data entry, both paper and electronic student file management (for approximately 1200 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students); providing support for graduate admissions; assisting with event planning; updating graduate student database; maintaining general ECE Student Services email account and distributing emails to the appropriate advisor when needed; supporting Student Services staff, and other duties as assigned. Candidate should have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highly professional manner with a diverse group of visitors to the suite. It is essential that the candidate possess exceptional customer service skill and the ability to excel in a team environment. Additionally, the candidate must be dependable, be able to work independently and exercise judgement and confidentiality in working with people, information and problems.
- Administrative support or receptionist experience in an office setting. - Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and other database software. - Experience with office equipment such as copier, scanner, etc. - Excellent communication skills and ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment. - Ability to work with a team based environment. - Ability to maintain confidential information. - Must show initiative and strong ability to prioritize multiple assignments. - Must be detail-oriented and work with a high level of accuracy.
- Experience as a receptionist in a high-traffic environment. - Familiarity with the graduate admissions process at Virginia Tech. - Experience analyzing and interpreting university policies and procedures. - Experience with Banner. - Familiarity with Student Success Collaborative-Campus system. - Experience working with international student populations, including undergraduate and graduate. - Experience with event planning. - Familiarity with Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate and graduate programs. - Experience working in a University setting.
