Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Department of Child and Adolescent Services in Outpatient Division at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
Under the direction of the Clinician Supervisor, the Mental Health Clinician II provides comprehensive assessment and therapeutic intervention for the psychological and social needs of child and adolescent clients (ages 3-17 years), including development of treatment plans, conducting individual, group, and family therapy, and providing case management functions as necessary.
Contributes to and supports goals and objectives of the unit and UBHC by meeting established unit and center policies, and procedures as observed by supervisor.
Provides psychotherapeutic interventions/services in accordance with accepted professional and ethical standards of UBHC.
Consistently performs case management functions to ensure overall coordination of treatment services via systems linkages, service procurement, referrals, patient advocacy and community liaison as indicated by supervisory observation and/or periodic record reviews.
Maintains and supervises the maintenance of clinical records in compliance with UBHC and JCAHO standards.
Provides clinical and administrative supervision, as assigned, to staff, students, and interns.
Annually participates in a minimum of two relevant professional colloquia on mental health issues.
Actively participates in program development within children’s services as observed by supervisor.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in a mental health discipline plus two years of post-Master's experience including delivering psychotherapeutic services to children and families in the mental health field or Doctorate Degree.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
License preferred for professionals from other disciplines.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Time spent in a school environment. Some travel to client homes and community agencies.
Program and classroom setting is active and sometimes noisy. Varied settings in home. Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crisis, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment. May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures.
