West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for an Accounting Assistant II.
The Accounting Assistant II provides the management for day-to-day operations of an office servicing two academic units. This include all budgetary matters with respect to multiple departmental accounts, facilitating paperwork for student assistants, and managing electronic resources. A small percentage of time is spent on traditional administrative support duties.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Monitor and maintain accurate balances for departmental accounts for two academic units.
Assist the department chairs in program planning and implementation.
Generate and interpret data for required evaluation performance reports.
Prepare and process all purchase requisitions and track all purchases.
Assist Chairs in the preparation of fiscal reports.
Process State Purchasing Card transactions and maintain detailed expenditure records of purchases and vendors.
Provide functional guidance and training to faculty and student workers on the use of various WVU systems and databases.
Manage two different academic departmental offices.
Work Hours : 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date of Appointment : Immediate
Pay Grade: 14
Associates degree in accounting, business or related field; an equivalent combination of experience and experience may also be considered
At least two (2) years of experience in maintaining and tracking various budgets required
At least two (2) years of experience with the West Virginia State Purchasing Regulations regarding expendable items, capital items, hospitality and travel preferred
Must be eligible to apply for and be able to maintain State Purchase Card
Ability to keep accurate accounting records
Working knowledge of and an ability to assist others with a large breadth of computer applications, including Web browsers, Microsoft Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, STAR/Banner student information system, and Microsoft Outlook
Familiarity with scientific terminology
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to multitask
