The Downing Center for Animal Pain Management is looking for an experienced full-time certified veterinary technician to join our practice team in Windsor, CO. We are AAHA accredited and Fear Free certified. In addition, we were the first Gold Level Cat Friendly practice in the state of Colorado. Dr. Robin Downing, the Hospital Director, is a board-certified specialist and an affiliate faculty at the CSU College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. She is an internationally sought-after expert in pain management and physiotherapy for pets. The Downing Center serves as an out-sourced training site for veterinary assistant students, veterinary technician students, veterinary students, as well as post-graduate veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Here are the skills/abilities we seek: Legible handwriting Excellent communication Fear Free certification (preferred but not mandatory) Ability to handle stressful events and situations within a fast-paced sophisticated practice Perform preliminary physical examination and history-taking on outpatients and report findings to the veterinarian Maintain hospital equipment in optimal working order by following maintenance guidelines Maintain a clean and orderly work environment Demonstrate situational awareness and proactivity High level nursing skills including (but not limited to) - - Provide care to hospitalized patients Medical mathematics Phlebotomy Prepare for, induce, and maintain general anaesthesia with appropriate monitoring under the supervision of a veterinarian Perform laboratory tests using state-of-the-art equipment Oversee and coordinate pack prep Administer medications via appropriate routes on appropriate schedule Oversee IV fluid therapy under the supervision of a veterinarian Understand and demonstrate aseptic technique
