Executive Director, Student Financial Assistance and Employment - (170001WK)
The Office of Student Financial Assistance and Education has an opportunity for an Executive Director. The Executive Director of Student Financial Assistance and Employment is responsible for directing financial aid strategies that are consistent with the student success objectives of the University, within the framework of federal and state regulations. The Executive Director will administer financial aid, financial literacy, and student employment programs that support the recruitment and retention of students through appropriate awarding strategies. The Executive Director will establish and maintain a service-oriented financial aid team that is committed to creating an excellent student experience. The Executive Director will also ensure accurate and secure student financial data, providing timely information to students and families, serve as a compliance officer for Title IV federal aid and state regulations and provide demonstrated leadership in the use of new and existing technology.

Responsible for all operations of Student Financial Assistance and Education including budget, program direction, policy and procedure implementation, training, metrics reporting, and overall effectiveness of Student Financial Assistance and Employment.
Devise and implement packaging policies and procedures for awarding institutional aid and interpret and implement federal and state regulations pertaining to compliance.
Direct the analysis of students' need and consult with and train staff to resolve need-analysis issues.
Responsible for ensuring the institution is in compliance with regulations related to federal and state financial aid programs. Assist with audit preparation and provide information to the auditors as requested.
Assist leadership with completion of all Federal Reports - Fiscal Operation Report and Application to Participate in Federal Programs (FISAP), Eligibility and Certification Report (ECAR), Gainful Employment, etc.
Direct and allocate institutional scholarship budgets, loan portfolio, and student appeals. Coordinate disbursement issues with Student Accounting and other University offices.
Oversee staff in guiding students and families through all stages of financial awards via interpersonal counseling, publications, workshops, and correspondence with a keen eye towards constituent service.
Select, train, supervise, and evaluate all staff, with responsibility for meeting all communication, and state and federal compliance goals.
Develop and coordinate programming and advising tools related to financial aid and financing options, including Open House and orientation sessions, entrance and exit counseling, and financial management workshops.
Provide oversight for federal work study and non-work-study student employment programs.
Create and execute affordability strategies and financial literacy programs that manage student debt and prevent loan defaults.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education : Bachelor's degree in related field, Student Services or Educational Administration preferred. Master's degree and additional certification is preferred and can be used to substitute for relevant experience.
Experience: Ten (10) years of related experience; previous experience overseeing Financial Aid for graduate and professional academic programs is preferred.
At least five (5) years of direct experience in a Student Information Management System such as Banner by Ellucian is preferred; a proven record in working successfully with diverse populations is preferred.
Supervisory: Five (5) years of experience at a management/leadership level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven knowledge of Title IV federal financial aid regulations, state grant financial aid regulations and federal financial needs analysis required.
Extensive knowledge of computer based financial aid packaging and reporting systems.
Ability to incorporate financial aid leveraging and other strategies to impact the overall enrollment management and student success goals of the University.
Student outreach experience and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and parents and other internal and external constituents regarding financial aid.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments and with all constituent groups.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet.
Ability to create and manage spreadsheets and databases and to utilize data to make informed decisions.
Evidence of strong leadership and management skills.
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and customer service focus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, the general public, University staff and faculty.
