A brand-new opportunity for a Critical Access Hospital Controller has just become available at Harlan County Health System, a Critical Access Hospital with two Rural Health Clinics in beautiful Alma, Nebraska! Experience in healthcare, specifically with Critical Access Hospitals, is preferred for this position, however qualified applicants from other industries will be considered.
The Controller will report to the Chief Executive Officer. The Controller will be responsible for the maintenance of financial records, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal and external financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. The controller will oversee the A/P, GL, payroll, patient registration and business office clerks as well as Financial Counseling. The Controller will complete Month End Financial Statements, Adjusting & Closing Entries, Audit Prep, and Leases.
The hospital is currently undergoing a new Meditech implementation and the Controller will be actively involved in the transition.

The ideal candidate for Controller has a strong analysis background and is currently either a Controller or Senior Accountant. In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, the Controller will help achieve the mission of the hospital by bringing to light any issues that may affect the hospital’s ability to provide patient care.
The Harlan County Health System hospital is a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital providing emergency, outpatient, inpatient, specialty clinic and surgical services from a spacious, modern facility. The hospital is located in beautiful Alma, Nebraska, near Harlan County Lake, Nebraska’s second largest body of water.
Adjoining the hospital is Heartland Family Medicine, a professional medical clinic ...staffed by a physician and two physician assistants. Heartland provides day-to-day medical care for patients of all ages from throughout the area. Visiting specialists travel to the HCHS regularly to provide cardiology, urology, podiatry, ophthalmology, and orthotic services.
Services provided by HCHS include a 24-hour emergency room; radiology, including a CT scanner for detailed imaging of soft tissue; rehabilitation, including occupational, speech and physical therapy; an intensive care suite; a full laboratory; a state-of-the-art pharmacy; and a modern surgical suite. Emergency transportation, staffed by experienced emergency medical technicians, is provided by a licensed ambulance service. Emergency air transport to a Level II trauma center is also available.
