Applications are invited for a NIH- funded Postdoctoral Associate position in a multidisciplinary laboratory investigating the effects of hyperlipidemia and obesity in the pathogenicity and persistency of Borrelia burgdorferi in the host.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant laboratory with a diverse and collaborative environment with access to cutting-edge resources in a major research university
Candidates must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a publication record consistent with the position and an interest in microbial pathogenesis.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a PhD in relevant area of microbiology, biochemistry, immunology or close related field. Experience on bacteria/cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, cloning, western blotting, protein assay, enzyme activity, ELISA, sequencing and bioinformatics analysis
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires a strong background and knowledge of common laboratory techniques and safety procedures. Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point is required.
All of the typical laboratory equipment. Also will use Microsoft Excel and Word and graphing and statistical analysis software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds and have direct contact with laboratory rodents/animals.
