MnSCU Academic Professional 1 (2 positions) (Unclassified MAPE)
Assist in recruiting activities for Upward Bound participants.
Administer grade level appropriate self-assessments in the areas of personal/social development and career exploration; review academic progress; establish with each participant an Education/Career Plan (ECP).
Coordinate, design, implement and participate in all aspects of program activities and services that strengthen participants' development.
Conduct workshops & advising sessions on topics relevant to participants.
Design strategies and programs to inform and involve participants' parents.
Collaborate with community agencies and other resources to enhance available services to program participants.
Advocate for participants matriculating into post-secondary education.
Maintain regular schedule at assigned schools; interact, communicate and network with counselors and other school representatives.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation and records regarding program participant contacts, activities, progress follow-up and evaluation.
Associates degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least two years' experience working with high school students who are the first generation, low-income, and/or at-risk in terms of academic success and access to post-secondary options (including English Language Learners/new immigrant populations.
Experience working with diverse/underrepresented populations.
Excellent human relations.
Computer proficiency required in Microsoft, Internet research, e-mail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to seek guidance from the Upward Bound Director, communicate progress in achieving position requirements, and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and overnight.
Must have Minnesota Valid Driver's License, a good driving record and reliable transportation.
NOTE: Must pass Criminal Background Check.
Experience in financial aid programs & postsecondary education programs.
