The Research Grant Administrator 3 is responsible for administering intramural and extramural funding programs and coordinating the programmatic research infrastructure associated with intramural and extramural research programs for the Cancer Center. With minimal direction, the Research Grant Administrator 3 will assist with the preparation and submission of the competitive and non-competitive Cancer Center Core Grant (CCSG) proposals including, but not limited to gathering, interpreting, and writing/reporting on information required to assemble the large infrastructure grant required for NCI designation. The Research Grant Administrator 3 will assist with preparing and gathering data of interest for Cancer Center leaders, responds to and routes inquiries to the Cancer Center program listserv, drafts and edits correspondence, presentations, and promotional materials, participates in inter-organizational projects, develops and deploys meeting technologies, develops time lines and administrative work plans for new and recurring Cancer Center programs, provides meeting-related support to the Cancer Center Director and other Center leaders, and writes administrative sections for grant proposals when neededREQUIRED--Program planning and project management experience.--Advanced writing, and editing skills to write non-scientific sections of research grant proposals.--Experience using analytical and critical thinking skills to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to solutions, forecast the impact of potential actions, develop logical conclusions and/or recommend solutions.--Knowledge of the policies governing the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Center Core Grant.--Experience coordinating, producing and executing contract and grant submissions to federal, state, industry foundations and various funding agencies.-Advance knowledge of software programs such as but not limited to MS Office: Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint and EndNote.--Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate in person, elicit information needed to clarify inquiries and requests, handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically, and to work effectively and sensitively with internal and external partners from diverse cultural background and perspectives. PREFERRED--Masters level degree in basic science or cancer related field in Public Health or equivalent education/training.--An understanding of scientific and non-scientific cancer research, the cancer burden, the management of cancer, and the workings of the organizational infrastructure within a large matrix cancer program.--Working knowledge of the Web, Pub Med, Melvyl, grants.gov, and Proposal Central to glean cancer-related information resources to acquire information on cancer-related research to aid in the preparation of grant proposals to NIH, NCI, DOD and various state and foundation funding agencies. --Experience in interpreting, comprehending and complying with university, state and federal guidelines, policies and procedures as it relates to the submission and management of contract and grant applications.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
