The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education in the College of Education at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure-track, nine month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor as defined by the North Carolina A&T State University Handbook. The successful applicant will start in August 15, 2018 and will be expected to assume a central role of teaching, advising doctoral students, and enacting an explicit research agenda. The department seeks a dynamic, creative scholar-practitioner committed to quality teaching, student success, strong research, and scholarly productivity. Through its commitment to civic engagement, transformative research and creative scholarship the program produces leaders who are critical thinkers and social justice advocates capable of transforming organizations and institutions to maximize human potentials. Courses are delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face modes. Honoring an interdisciplinary practice and scholarship, the curriculum provides depth and breadth of leadership understanding and development culminating in an empirically-based research dissertation.
A successful candidate for the position is expected to do the following:
Teach quantitative and qualitative research methods courses and other graduate-level courses as assigned
Design, teach, and facilitate small and large group experiential learning activities in a blended learning environment
Participate in dissertation advisement and serve on dissertation committees
Contribute to the scholarly enterprise of the doctoral program, the College of Education, and the university community which includes procuring extramural grant funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and conducting presentations at state, regional, national, and international professional meetings and conferences
Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings
Serve on department, college, and university committees and participate in other activities as assigned
Remain current in theory and practice related to program content
Support community engagement activities

This program is designed for individuals with proven leadership backgrounds across various disciplines who desire to conduct leadership research and inquiry within the discipline area. This program aligns with the vision and mission of the College of Education, which is a learning centered organization that prepares educational and human service leaders who create, use, and share knowledge on equity, access, and advocacy in local, national, and global communities. The College offers degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels.

An earned doctorate in interdisciplinary leadership studies, business or organizational management, a STEM discipline, health science, higher education, or educational research methodology or closely related discipline from an accredited university by the anticipated date of appointment. Previous experience teaching quantitative research methodology to graduate candidates, particularly doctoral candidates, at an accredited four-year institution of higher education. A record of scholarly productivity commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
We seek a colleague with demonstrated experience providing high quality instruction to graduate candidates, particularly doctoral candidates; a proven record of chairing and/or serving on dissertation or thesis research committees.
Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated record of scholarly productivity commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This activity includes manuscript publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, procurement of extramural funds, and presentations facilitated at well-respected meetings and conferences.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methodology and knowledge of pertinent theories and practices as they relate to program content as well as a proven ability to use adult learning strategies in both face-to-face and virtual settings and the ability to work with diverse adult populations in academic and professional working relationships.
