TheNational Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a strong campaign and advocacy professional to serve as Director of Regional Public Affairs. Working under the direction of the Senior Director, Public Advocacy, this position serves as a field-based advocacy professional that implements the association’s advocacy initiatives outside of Washington. This role also supports aspects of the association’s political program and Congressional recognition functions. As part of the field operations team, the Director coordinates programs for the NAM members to engage in outreach on the association’s priority issues and assists in member’s involvement with key candidates. This position also identifies targeted races to engage in such as primaries, competitive open seats, and other similar events.

Serve as the NAM’s regional liaison for legislative and policy grassroots and political affairs in a designated territory of states within the association.
Manage the association’s regional policy education, mobilization, and activation initiatives.
Develop and execute meetings with NAM members and elected officials.
Support the State Affairs Director in maintaining strong relationships with the association’s state partners and related organizations.
Manage the member and member employee advocacy engagement programs including events, political fundraisers and state-based media outreach.
Develop and execute activities in support of the NAM’s advocacy campaigns.
Provide field-based support for the NAM’s state-based grassroots initiatives.
Serve as primary liaison for district and state based Congressional staff and candidates’ political operations.
Represent the NAM at local meetings and political events.
Serve as a regional press secretary to identify key publications and place targeted OpEds and LTEs to non-national outlets in support of the association’s Communications Team.
Bachelor's degree, preferably with a political science or public policy emphasis
Five to seven years of political or issue advocacy campaign expertise or experience with member associations, corporate government affairs, or Capitol Hill
Strong written communication, computer, and organizational/time management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective team member and team leader
Must possess an orientation toward member satisfaction
Strong understanding of the executive branch and the legislative process
Must be an outstanding communicator with a demonstrated aptitude for public speaking
Previous experience managing people and programs is desired
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quality and goal driven environment
Must be able to travel frequently
