Bullis, an independent, co-educational college preparatory day school in Potomac, MD, seeks a Food Service Worker/Cook to work in the school’s 1930 Grille. This position is responsible for helping to cook and prepare meals, assist customers with café transactions, operate a cash register, and ensure compliance with school and state health standards.
The 1930 Grille is a café in the newly-opened Gerald L. Boarman Discovery Center. The Discovery Center is a state-of-the-art educational and meeting facility on campus that showcases cutting-edge classrooms, media studios, makerspaces, and administrative offices.
Daily responsibilities include:
Participate in the routine preparation, cooking, and serving of food in 1930 Grille
Prepare food in large batches with a minimum of wasted materials
Maintain utensils and equipment in kitchen and dining areas in a sanitary manner
Follow standard recipes for food preparation
Test cooked foods to determine if properly cooked and seasoned
Assist in maintaining the kitchen and dining area and equipment and utensils in a safe and sanitary manner
Process customer transactions using point-of-sale software
Provide top-notch customer service to all 1930 Grille customers
Must be at least 18 years of age and have reliable transportation to/from work
Experience working in food service required, with work in school environments strongly preferred
High school diploma preferred but not required
Experience operating a cash register strongly preferred
