The Vice President, Programs & Services is responsible for promoting the health of the organization and overseeing the effective operation of all program aspects of the organization. Responsibilities include:
The development and operation of multiple residential and non-residential social service programs.
Community relations with other social service agencies, public agencies and others in the community.
Department and personnel administration.
Directly or indirectly manage all staff assigned to the Programs Department, usually through subordinate managers or supervisors.
Solicit, formulate and recommend new public grants and program opportunities necessary to maintain and improve the service goals of the organization.
Cultivate and maintain contacts with the contract/grants agencies, i.e., Department of Corrections, Community Redevelopment Agency and other related agencies.
Develop long- and short-range service plans, which complement corporate objectives and future needs of the homeless population.
Coordinate community relations with service agencies, both public and private, employee groups, and related stakeholders.
Formulate and recommend new programs and services necessary to maintain and improve the overall performance of the Center
Responsible for Programs & Services budget development and control.
Seven+ years leadership experience, preferably in a social service agency with a background in policy development, human services and strategic planning.
A minimum of a Master’s Degree from a fully accredited university in social work, social welfare, psychology, counseling, nonprofit management or public administration. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. LCSW preferred.
Proven ability to manage a portfolio (this role oversees 14 separate and distinct programs) of services, anticipating problems and opportunities in advance and offering creative, practical solutions.
A 60-40 blend of experience managing the complexity of contract/compliance and staff, ideally in Southern California— this is primarily a staff management and contract/compliance-focused role versus a client-focused role
