Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) Senior Manager of Budget & Financial Analysis, the financial analyst will assist with all financial reporting out of the budget office. Analyst will provide, timely and accurate review of the CDM bi-weekly payroll, and produce associated reporting; as well as completing internal and external surveys, certifications and any requested ad hoc reports. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Enter and process periodical budget updates into the University's budget tool. Review and preliminarily approve budget entries by section and centers. Extract, analyze and prepare data from the University's financial system (ARC) to create reports for budget review, including telecom, and space. Monitor the various budgets and identify potential overdrafts and apprise Section and Division Administrators of the budget impact. Support the Senior Budget Manager in assessing the reporting needs of the Sections, and identifying potential changes in processes. Reconcile monthly financial statements and analyze budget variance reports; meeting regularly with relevant stakeholders to review year-to-date activity and identifying trends that will impact the budget plans for future periods. Prepare reports on a quarterly basis related to quarterly variance explanation requests to be submitted to Controller's Office and Office of Budget & Finance. Prepare and submit budgets to Office of Budget & Finance for review and approval, ensures that all deadlines are met. Work closely with the Budget Manager on the annual compensation roster process. Work closely with payroll coordinator to reconcile salary budget information. Supervise the submissions of the biweekly payroll entries. Analyze data to prepare surveys, including ADA and ADEA. Prepare annual reports, including Budget submission backup documentation. Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc reports as required by CDM senior management. Maintain accurate information in space database for CDM. Process journal entries for monthly, quarterly and year-end close. Monitor NYPH budget to ensure funding is in place. Additional projects/duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance or Accounting) and/or training plus four years of financial experience required. Must have strong financial, payroll, and experience. Must be detail oriented. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access required. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills required. Ability to collaborate with staff at all levels with diplomacy. Computer literacy a must, as data is pulled from diverse electronic systems. Confidentiality required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in PeopleSoft/Oracle-based software preferred.
