The Business Core Systems (BCS) department is currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst(BSA) for Student Financials. Reporting to the Director of the Catalyst Application Services team, the selected candidate will work with a team of talented, highly-skilled BSAs. This individual will also serve as the systems liaison for the Student Financials and other related administrative functions of the university and BCS. The selected candidate will also work with other business units, primarily the Office of the Bursar to achieve their desired business goals.
Collaborate with business partners on business processes to align technology solutions with business strategies
Support one or more moderately complex business processes
Establish and maintain liaison relationships with various business partners
Conduct data gathering/analysis to understand business strategy requirements
May contribute to short and long-term planning sessions and provide directions to ensure understanding of business goals
Provide relevant feedback and input from both a business-related and IT perspective
Assess client needs utilizing a structured requirements process in order to identify business priorities and provide viable business solutions to the client
Develop, write, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions
May analyze client operations to understand their particular business objectives and determine opportunities for improvement
Document current business processes and models and assist in the business process redesign; provide assistance with business case development (i.e., research and data collection)
Review modules for quality assurance and adhere to standards and procedures
Develop user test cases, validate test results during testing, and execute test cases
Investigate and troubleshoots client and user issues, identifies need for technical assistance, and escalates as appropriate
May troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develop solutions
Keep clients informed of problems, issues, and resolutions
Analyzes performance metrics to ensure client satisfaction
May work with external vendors and/or consultants to resolve issues and develop solutions
Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results
Assists in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems
Coach/transfer knowledge to less experienced team members
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related field with 3 years of technical or business related experience – OR – Associate's degree in a related field with 5 years of technical or business related experience –OR – 7 years relevant technical or business related work experience.
This position requires working knowledge of business operations and systems requirement processes.
