Under the general direction of the department's IT supervisor, the incumbent will provide advanced technical support for the Department of Design Media Arts and its rapidly growing and evolving computer laboratory systems. Be responsible for imaging and maintaining an up-to-date OS and software environment on all of the Design Media Arts lab computers, as well as being responsible for last-minute installation of new software and hardware as needed. Assist in the maintenance and development of bespoke software systems in the department and work to find solutions to difficult problems that touch on many legacy systems.

Demonstrated skills in software development, in particular for the web.
Expert knowledge and skill in managing both Mac OS and Windows machines from multiple vendors.
Ability to provide network and host-based security and backup and recovery support.
Ability to evaluate, recommend, and configure new hardware and software.
Ability to maintain, update, and extend legacy web applications (PHP/MySQL).
Ability to develop custom software for workflow, automation, and user-facing purposes.
