This Fellowship is designed for pharmacists interested in establishing and maintaining a Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program and developing skills in business management. Our Specialized Medpack Program, for independently living seniors and any patient seeking efficiency in the packaging of their medications, provides an extensive opportunity for provision of MTM services. The Fellow will be introduced to the basics of business development and will receive experience in all areas of pharmacy operations. Apothecare is also equipped with a state-of-the-art non-sterile compounding room in compliance with USP chapters 795 and 800, which provides a unique aspect of business management and will allow the Fellow the opportunity to gain experience in non-sterile compounding.
Goal & Vision:
The purpose of this two-year Fellowship program is to train graduate pharmacists to develop and maintain an MTM program and to gain a thorough understanding of business development. Training includes development of a hands-on understanding of all pharmacy services and operations, identifying MTM eligible services and patients, and participation in other operational aspects per the Fellowship Director. In addition, the Fellow will gain experience in teaching within the academic setting at MCPHS University and develop skills to train students, technicians, and employees in the area of Medication Therapy Management.
Objectives for Fellowship Program:
The Fellow will:
Manage and successfully operate Apothecare's Medication Therapy Management program;
Optimize utilization of MTM billing websites (OutcomesMTM, Mirixa), with regard to Part D Plans' target adherence and completion rates;
Perform Comprehensive Medication Reviews for eligible patients, including home visits for new patients;
Provide counsel for patients with non-adherence and suboptimal regimen issues;
Communicate therapy optimization recommendations to prescribers effectively and professionally;
Recommend and administer immunizations as recommended by CDC Immunization Schedule;
Precept PharmD students on advanced or intermediate pharmacy practice experience at Apothecare, with a focus on development of MTM skills;
Integrate with healthcare providers at hospice interdisciplinary team rounds to effectively manage end-of-life care for terminally ill patients;
Initiate and develop strategic business opportunities;
Identify under-serviced areas of the marketplace and structure a model for growth opportunities in those areas;

Interested candidates must have completed an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program before July 1st, 2018 and be eligible for licensure in Massachusetts
Participation in an interview at ASHP Midyear via Personnel Placement Service is highly encouraged, but not required
