Senior Manager, Total Rewards
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, manages the design, development and delivery of all Total Rewards and Recognition programs for Purdue Pharma Canada. Develops and delivers Total Rewards related training programs and communication materials, oversees Rewards related change management and supports organizational decision making through developing, implementing and utilizing effective HR technology tools and Total Rewards metrics.
Designs, develops and delivers base compensation programs to include market pricing, job evaluation and corresponding grade and pay structures development.
Designs, develops and delivers short-term incentive programs to include annual incentive, commission and bonus plans as applicable.
Oversees benefit, recognition and pension programs including market benchmarking and analysis, program design, maintenance, administration and reporting. Member of Purdue Canada Compensation Committee.
Participates in the design, development and manages the reporting on HR and Total Rewards metrics. Maintains and evaluates HR dashboard.
Oversees design, implementation and maintenance of HR Information System (HRIS) and recognition technology tools (i.e. Aspire).
Analyzes the cost/benefit impact of designed programs using routine to highly complex financial models.
Analyzes the effectiveness of existing programs to include pay-for-performance and cost/benefit analyses.
Manages annual salary planning and incentive cycles. Prepares necessary documentation and presentations on Total Rewards matters for the Board of Directors and ELT meetings as required.
Manages annual employee engagement process, providing reporting, analyzing trends and developing recommendations at organizational level.
Designs, develops and delivers a wide variety of training and communication programs and materials to educate managers and HR team members on compensation programs.
Establishes a comprehensive internal and external network to evaluate the need, acceptance and readiness of programs, and to maintain currency on market practices and influences.
Serves as a Job Evaluation subject matter expert, member of Purdue Pharma Job Evaluation Committee. Ensures ongoing maintenance of Purdue Pharma Job Descriptions database.
Partners with HR Business Partners on all Rewards matters and serves as internal consultant to and Total Rewards subject matter expert to line managers and executives as required.
Assists in the design of compensation programs or consults on individual compensation levels relevant to organizational design, culture, market practices and internal equity.
May act as Lead to other HR staff, including HR Business Partners on Total Compensation projects. Provides guidance and direction on specific projects or programs.
Manages annual wage/benefits/operational budgeting process for HR department.
Manages direct reports and provides training/coaching as necessary. Sets/reviews performance goals and provides regular performance feedback.
Manages compensation, benefits and recognition vendors. Interfaces with external agencies, regulatory bodies, service providers and consultants as required.
Keeps abreast of industry and legislative trends, ensures Total Rewards program compliance with applicable legislation such as Pay equity, etc.
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline (Finance, Business Administration or similar) and 7+ years of progressive total rewards experience, including at least 3 years with total compensation planning, design and administration at management level;
Certified Compensation Professional designation is strongly preferred;
Subject matter expert on all areas of compensation and benefits design and delivery; understands general market and industry trends and how to design programs to balance external influences and internal needs
Ability to generate innovative new ideas to attract, retain and motivate employees through total rewards programs that are flexible to the business needs of the company;
Excellent knowledge of Canadian pension and benefits landscape, knowledge of benefit vendors market, solid experience with vendor management and negotiations.
Ability to manage projects independently, including scoping requirements, resource needs, and daily task management. Strong project management skills.
Professional curiosity. Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. Uses professional knowledge and business concepts to develop advanced approaches or resolve critical technical and/or business problems.
Strong knowledge of HAY Job Evaluation methodology and/or other job evaluation methodologies.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong presentation skills and ability to present in front of the executive group.
Skilled negotiator and collaborator. Excellent relationship building and management skills, cross-functionally.
Ability to think conceptually, analyze data, identify trends and report.
Proficient use of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ability to utilize higher-functioning tools in Excel such as If/Then statements, pivot tables, and macros; skilled in statistical analysis and in using and managing relational databases;
Ability to successfully facilitate design meetings, persuade and negotiate design mechanics, and deliver presentations to all levels of team members, including senior management;
Coaching and people management skills, ability to provide day-to-day guidance as well as motivational direction to direct reports;
Experience with metrics and dashboards is required;
Detail and deadline oriented, high degree of accuracy and confidentiality, and ability to work under pressure. Occasional overnight travel is required.
