Mammography Technologist – Imaging – Celebration – Per Diem
Celebration Health seeks to hire a Mammography Technologist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Established in 1997 and now a 203-bed hospital, Florida Hospital Celebration Health was designed as a Mediterranean resort-style facility to serve as a cornerstone of health in Disney's planned community of Celebration, Florida. The Imaging department at Florida Hospital Celebration Health is integrally involved across the spectrum of patient care, assisting medical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of patients ranging from routine imaging studies to advanced interventional procedures. Annually, Imaging at Celebration Health performs 132,000 procedures across emergency, inpatient, surgical, and outpatient settings. The department operates within the hospital and services the greater Osceola community. The Imaging team includes more than 100 skilled and engaged staff including Radiologists, Technologists, Nurses, and support staff, working to ensure the patients receive appropriate, quality procedures and results at the right time.
Per Diem; Variable Shifts
Under Supervision performs the duties directly involved with mammography applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. In addition to mammography, may also perform DXA scans at locations where the service is offered. For cost center 4337 the technologist may also perform Diagnostic Radiological exams (fluoroscopy excluded). Regulates the equipment used to expose the imaging receptor; processes and organizes images. Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards when using ionizing radiation to produce radiographic images. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Ability to determine appropriate technical factors
Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations
Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety
Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Florida State License – General Radiographer
Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program
Produces quality radiographs per the procedure manual. Documents history, utilizes appropriate exposure, positioning, patient ID and markers. Reviews all images for evidence and accuracy of RT/LT marker placement and proper orientation. Repeats any view that fails to include all required anatomical structures or lacks proper contrast and spatial resolution. Adheres to the Image Quality Goals & Criteria.
Completes work in appropriate time frame and ensures accuracy and completeness of work performed. Sets priorities and performs well in stressful and emergency situations.
Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment before releasing images to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual Quality Assurance on all Mammography units and processors.
Operates and maintains Imaging equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. Is knowledgeable of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and/or biohazard. Properly wears Dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure.
Performs mammography and DXA exams (and Diagnostic X-rays for cc 4337 only) and operates all imaging equipment in assigned area. Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of adult and geriatric ages. The knowledge and skills are acquired through formal training, in-service, continuing education and/or experience. Learns/adapts to new technologies and protocols and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.
Assists with data collection for KPIs while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department Gallup and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.
Attends department meetings consistently and promotes positive dialogue with respect to department objectives. Listens and is responsible to understand all agenda items.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
