UW Information Technology is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW. The Information Management (IM) within UW-IT is currently seeking a Senior Applications Systems Engineer to design, program, and support finance enterprise business applications as part of the Finance Custom and Vendor Solutions team, this includes production support of financial accounting systems for the University and various strategic, enterprise-wide financial development projects.
UW-IT has an outstanding opportunity for a JDE System Engineer.
The purpose of this position is to help support and enhance current Finance applications (such as Grant Receivables) and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Custom and Vendor Solutions production team.
The JDE System Engineer (SASE) designs, develops, implements, and supports major information systems at the University of Washington. The technical environment is highly complex and includes client/server, mainframe and web-based technologies. This involves development and maintenance of University specific software, including internally-built solutions, as well as configuration/customization of external vendor software applications (e.g. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne), middleware (e.g. WebLogic), and related interfaces and infrastructure components. The incumbent will work in a diverse, mission-critical suite of application software of varying ages and technologies in the Finance Custom and Vendor Solution team.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 4 years recent experience in software development and support, with particular emphasis on JD Edwards application software and tools, and related middleware technologies; senior level developer fluent in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including project definition, planning, scheduling and implementation.
Experience building loosely-coupled, service-oriented distributed systems.
Demonstrated experience with IDEs and Development Tools
Demonstrated ability to assimilate new technologies
Understanding of secure design and coding practices.
Attention to detail and firm commitment to quality and customer service.
High ability to train, mentor and guide others to learn complex technical skills
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Financial systems experience, preferably in a Higher Education environment.
ITIL and/or Agile SDLC methodologies
Experience with iterative and flow-managed software development and release models like Scrum, Lean-agile, with a desire for continuous improvement through development process transparency and repeatable processes
Strong experience with SSIS
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to meet business needs
Cross-cutting standards: XML/XSL/XSD/X/HTML, web services (SOAP, REST)
In-depth knowledge of Visual Studio 2012 or higher, Team Foundation Server and SQL
Motivated, energetic self-starter comfortable in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in a major research university setting.
