Join Harborview Medical Center's teams of Clinical Procedure Areas. (Registered Nurse 2; RN2). Harborview Medical Center is a level one adult and pediatric trauma center as well as regional burn center for a four state region; a teaching and research hospital for the University of Washington; and a public/safety-net hospital for our diverse community.
Current openings for clinical procedure areas are as follows:
Full time, 100% Days position open. Also, 75% FTE Days position open.
Position responsibilities include:
assist interventional radiologists during procedures involving all modalities of radiology in the Angiography suites (Body IR, Neuro IR, CathLab)
assist with Cardiology outpatient test: Echo's, TEEs, DSEs and treadmill tests
assist our Sports/Spine and Pain Anesthesia Team with procedures (steroid injections, spine injections for back pain, phototherapy's)
provide moderate sedation for all tests that require it, monitoring the patient throughout
pre and post anesthesia care and well as patient care coordination.
On-call requirements. Requires ICU experience.
** PICC Line Nurse**
Full time, 100% FTE Days (four 10s) position currently open. PICC insertion for inpatient and outpatient population, ultrasound guided PIV insertion, troubleshooting CVADs, collaboration with providers to assist in determining the vascular access needs of patients. Requires 2 years + med-surg or ICU nursing experience. Tele experience desirable. PICC Line/vascular access experience desirable.
**Lipid Apheresis, APA (Ambulatory Procedures Area)**
60% Days position currently available with Lipid Apheresis, Ambulatory Procedures Area. (no week-ends, no holidays; schedule could be for 3 8s; or for a mix of 8s and 12s).
The APA Lipid Apheresis (LA) nurse would provide a dialysis type treatment to a select group of individuals with very high cholesterol on a weekly,bi-weekly or monthly basis. The LA nurse is responsible for the set up and break down of the treatment machine, placing IV access, monitoring vital signs at designated intervals, charting in ORCA and ordering all supplies needed. On days/shifts with no LA patients, the LA nurse will work in the Hematology/Oncology (Heme/Onc) Support Clinic and the Ambulatory Procedure Area assisting with the care of a variety of outpatient Heme/Onc patients and Radiology procedural and infusion patients.
Responsibilities Specific to Lipid Apheresis
Performs LDL apheresis procedure for HMC out-patient patient population.
Assesses patients' medical history and clinical condition for procedural concerns, risks and contraindications to LDL apheresis.
Obtains laboratory blood samples, reports critical lab results to medical providers and manages corrective action per orders.
Monitors the patient response to the procedure and make technical and medication changes appropriately.
Communicates with LDL Apheresis medical provider to address potential and immediate clinical concerns.
Adheres to unit policies and procedures compliant with regulatory requirements for LDL Apheresis documentation.
Functions independently and is responsible for daily workflow management, scheduling of patients into Epic, environmental safety and interfacing with other departments.
Assist in policy and procedure development, review, revision and implementation, as needed. Responsibilities Specific to Heme/Onc Support Clinic RN2 include the following: Assist with providing and coordinating all aspects of out-patient care for patients with blood (hematology) disorders and who have been diagnosed with cancer (oncology); inclusive of being responsible for coordinating outpatient chemotherapy treatments provided at the UW Medical Center; arranging and scheduling various follow-up treatments, procedures and follow-up care associated with the Heme/Onc patient population; triaging and managing chemotherapy treatment side effects, providing in-depth patient and family education on specifics of hematologic disorders and respective treatments, chemotherapy treatments and complications. Through skilled triage and assessment, education, collaboration and coordination of healthcare and community resources, the Heme/Onc RN2 assists patients to achieve optimum functional health status and quality of life. The Ambulatory Procedure Area (APA) nurse performs a variety of duties related to the following: Radiology pre-procedure and post procedure care; performs Therapeutic Phlebotomies; administers a variety of infusions (MABs, Iron, NS, Antibiotics, etc) and blood product transfusions and is proficient in starting IV's, accessing port-a-caths and providing maintenance care for tunneled central lines (ie: PICC lines).
*Per diem position open, variable hours. *Per diem/on-call position open (for taking call M-Th, 8pm - 7am).
Requires either ICU experience or Endo./GI experience.
Legal Requirement - Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington.
