Essential Job Duties:
The Open Knowledge Librarian in the Copyright and Digital Scholarship Center:
- Develops programs, advocacy tools, and partnerships that facilitate and promote open and publicly engaged scholarship. - Works closely with colleagues in Digital Library Initiatives and Research Collaboration, investigates and promotes digital technologies that support open practice across the research life-cycle and maximize the dissemination and impact of scholarship. - Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to support innovation in areas such as open education, digital scholarship, data management, data analysis, visualization, and digital humanities. - Directs projects and initiatives to partner with researchers in the creation and management of research assets. - Participates in library planning, serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams.
This position reports to the Director of the Copyright and Digital Scholarship Center.
ALA-accredited MLS or MIS, or equivalent advanced degree.
- Demonstrated experience supporting digital scholarship across the research life-cycle. - Demonstrated knowledge of trends and issues in open and public scholarship, including open access, data, education, and open source. - Experience conducting outreach and developing programs that engage scholars. - Demonstrated understanding of tools and practices for managing scholarly identity and evaluating and maximizing the impact of scholarship in the digital environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Capacity to thrive in an exciting, ambiguous, future-oriented environment and to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities. - Evidence of ability for ongoing professional development and contribution.
- Experience working with research faculty, including efforts to build collections and scholarly communication programs. - Knowledge of emerging technologies in scholarly identity management, research data management, and visualization of scholarship. - Record of public engagement through scholarly presentations and writing. - Understanding of copyright and related laws that affect scholarly practices and access to scholarship. - Understanding of issues related to funder mandates for open access, open data, and broader impacts of research.
