The School of Architecture + Design in the College of Architecture & Urban Studies is seeking a full-time Graduate Program Coordinator and Advisor for graduate students. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the graduate architecture programs including the Master of Architecture programs [MArch1, MArch2, & MArch3], Master of Science in Architecture and Architectural Design Research PhD programs at the Blacksburg campus, as well as, at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center [WAAC]. The role entails assisting the graduate program chair in managing:
Admissions operations including recruitment, application processes, and orientation programs
Graduate student advising, including managing progress to degree reporting and establishing plans of study
Contract management and accounting for all graduate assistantship stipends and tuition remissions
- Bachelor's degree in education, student development, counseling, architecture or related field, or equivalent education and/or work experience. - Considerable experience in a combination of academic program administration and academic advising in a higher education setting. - Demonstrated knowledge and skill in creating, editing, and handling professional documents and correspondence, and managing confidential files and materials, and auditing work. - Basic computer skills and experience with software such as Microsoft Office. - Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills. - Must enjoy working with students and interacting with prospective students and their families. - Professional demeanor and both a service-oriented and team attitude is a must.
- Experience using student information systems such as BANNER. - Demonstrated understanding of University policies and procedures, including those of the Graduate School. - Experience in event planning and facilitating workshops.
