According to the overall needs of the Organization, the Marketing, Communications and Events Manager will act as a member of the Development team. The Marketing, Communications and Events Manager will co-lead, with the Events Coordinator, the execution of large scale fundraising events such as Dining Out For Life and our premier event Ride for AIDS Chicago (RFAC ). This position is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive and innovative marketing, communications, and public relations plan that utilizes print and social media outlets in order to increase awareness of, and participation in, TPAN’s programs, services, and special events.
In collaboration with the Development team and the Art Director, assist in the development of promotional materials--including, but not limited to--the annual report, agency brochures, press releases, and web calendar listings
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with key press contacts
Monitor, maintain, and update the agency’s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Create a Marketing and Communications Plan for each fiscal year
Improve and maintain TPAN’s web presence via updates to tpan.com, the Dining Out For Life, and RFAC websites, and Google AdWords
Website management and maintenance
Work collaboratively with department staff on the production and execution of assigned TPAN special events and fundraisers, taking the lead on the planning and implementation of Dining Out For Life, including attending its events throughout the year
In collaboration with the Development team, and the Events Coordinator, actively execute our newest event Dining Out For Life, our premier event, Ride for AIDS Chicago, and other agency events
Lead and manage event management duties which may include: event execution, sponsorship and participant recruitment, planning and logistics, vendor and location selection, and other related issues as determined
Cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with committee chairs, vendors, suppliers, donors, corporations, foundations, and other high-profile individuals related to special events
Assist with the day-to-day administrative duties of the Development Department
Participate in staff meetings and complete necessary trainings as determined by the Director of Development
Attend all meetings as required including all Development Committees, Board Fundraising Committee, and other meetings as necessary
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to insure adequate volunteer coverage for all events
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all agency events, programs, and services
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in working to maintain a standard of continuous improvement for the organization’s volunteer program
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
Experience with major events; peer to peer sporting events--such as cycling-- is preferred
Possess exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail to meet the accuracy and fast moving expectations of the position
Excellent computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, Raiser’s Edge, Drupal and Word Press.
Experience with social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Must be reliable, use good judgment, and have, if at all possible, previous data entry or data management experience
Experience leading other staff, including interns
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
Demonstrated cultural competence in working with people of color and the LGBTQ community as well as experience and knowledge working with those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS
Access to a registered vehicle, IL Driver’s License
