The Laupus Health Sciences Library seeks a highly motivated, dependable, and energetic individual to work in the Access Services Department and provide support in Interlibrary Loan as needed. Primary responsibilities of this position include providing service desk coverage, assisting clients at the service desk, and supervising student help. The selected candidate will be responsible for opening or closing Laupus Library on Sundays and closing the library Monday – Thursday nights, working with Security to ensure that all clients exit the building safely and that the building is secured. The selected candidate will be expected to provide assistance to clients by phone, and by chat, complete routine and problematic circulation transactions, answer all levels of questions related to circulation matters, and explain Laupus Library procedures to clients. The selected candidate will assist clients with basic reference questions and refer more complex strategy-based questions to Librarians. Candidate will assist users who have concerns with library records (fines, overdue and lost items) and will make the appropriate changes. The candidate will also pay out the fines on users records, make independent decisions within the guidelines of Laupus Library, serve as point of contact for Laupus Library during nights and Sunday hours of operation, serve as the specialist and first contact for the Symphony ILS, review registrations, fines, fees and other Symphony records regularly to insure integrity and accuracy, and make corrections as needed. Candidate will work closely with and correspond regularly with Joyner Library staff regarding Symphony issues.

It also serves as the comprehensive information resource center for health care professionals who practice in northeastern North Carolina.
