Bachelor's Degree in a business discipline required
University level teaching of a business career class required
Data analysis experience using STATA and/or Maple required
Demonstrated working knowledge of Symplicity career management software required
Demonstrated skill in mentoring business students to promote the professional development of students.
Superior career coaching and facilitation skills coupled with knowledge of career and leadership counseling theory and practice as it applies to a university population.
Analytical ability to evaluate business majors needs and develop programs responsive to those needs.
Evidence of superior presentation skills to present to small and large groups of various populations.
Ability to communicate and market the services and programs of the Center to potential students, current students, employers, faculty and administrators.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement projects with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities.
Familiarity with student services philosophy and ability to work with colleagues in planning and providing student services.
Extensive knowledge of Appalachian and the WCOB, its professional schools, academic departments and divisions and the student services community, its protocols, reporting structure, and philosophies.
Demonstrated ability to support and maintain critical liaison relationships with diverse populations and organizations on behalf of the Center.
Experience with databases, websites, and social media.
Valid drivers license is required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Data and Curriculum
Design and delivery graduation survey;
Provide in-depth analysis and reporting on data for AACSB certification, WCOB departmental reporting and pre-admission recruiting.
Drive curriculum changes to Career and Leadership course required of all business majors. Career Coaching
Provide individual career guidance and counseling to business students and recent alumni, including internship and post-graduate employment search, mock interviews, review resumes and personal statements.
Facilitate skills-based workshops and trainings
Co-develop and execute programs and events to connect students with the broader community including employers, alumnae, and families.
Willing to represent the College and Business Career Services at specified professional association conferences and/or professional development workshops. Employer Engagement
Create and implement employer outreach strategies to strengthen the on-campus recruitment program; initiate employer and alumni outreach for job/internship leads
Facilitate relationships between employers and the university community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni association, foundation, etc
Manage on-campus recruitment visits and recruitment-related programming including information sessions, coffee chats, and workshops; identify and coordinate faculty partnerships
Utilize career management systems and LinkedIn for position postings
Work with employers to develop marketing strategies for enhancement of employer presence on campus
Discuss student feedback with employers and notify director of problematic employer activities/behavior and significant trends
Conduct ongoing assessment of employer relation efforts and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.
