University of Missouri’s Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health seeks a passionate Certified Nurse Midwife to join our growing practice! This opportunity offers full-scope practice at MU’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital--a Baby-Friendly® facility with beautiful low-intervention birthing suites and 24/7 OB physician and anesthesia availability.
Under indirect supervision, manages women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women.
Provides direct prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and/or well women patient services and primary care to low risk obstetrical and gynecological patients. Promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling with patient and their family. Assist with planning and participate in patient education projects.
Practice within the health care system and perform consultation, collaborative management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. Practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Obtain and document patient health history and perform physical examination. Order and/or perform pertinent diagnostic tests, analyze collected data in order to determine health status. Diagnose, treat and monitor diseases and health conditions through patient condition, laboratory tests, and results of diagnostic procedures. Collaborate with the physicians and other health care professionals in the development of treatment goals and care plans and coordinated services and treatments in order to implement and accomplish these goals. Record all patient data, including history and physical examination, problems identified, intervention provided, results of care, and plans for follow-up or referral.
Acts to safeguard the patient, family, staff and guests when health care and safety are affected by the competence, ethics or illegal practice of any person. Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
Participates in the education of medical students, midwives, nursing students, clinical staff, peers and others. Participates in Division and/or other research and on-going Quality Assurance or Improvement activities. Participates in School, Department, and Divisional activities, professional organizations, and community outreach/service activities. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
May be required to work on-call or on continuous roster on a 24-hour, 7-day basis. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
