METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY, a vibrant and growing public, urban university, is seeking to fill a full-time, probationary (tenure-track) faculty position within the Human Services Department located in the College of Community Studies and Public Affairs, beginning August 2018.This position will involve teaching courses within the Human Services Administration and Leadership Bachelor of Human Services (BHS) degree as well as core Human Services courses. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body and providing them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for culturally competent practice.
Demonstrate ability to teach Human Services Administration and Leadership Bachelor of Human Services (BHS) degree as well as core Human Services courses effectively at the undergraduate level
Coordinate and provide leadership for the Human Services Administration and Leadership concentration within the BHS degree program
Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement related to the Human Services field
Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study relevant to assigned duties
Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance
Engage in service to the university and community including participation in college and university governance and committee activities
Demonstrate a commitment to serving a nontraditional, racially, culturally, economically and linguistically diverse student body
Master's degree in Human Services or a related field (e.g., social work, public health, or community psychology)
College or university level teaching experience with evidence of teaching multiple courses
At least six years of work experience in the human services including
At least three years of professional work experience as a human service practitioner
At least three years of work experience as an administrator or leader in a human services organization
Demonstrated ability to work within diverse communities and with racially, culturally and economically diverse colleagues and students
PhD or a terminal degree in Human Services, Leadership, or a related field (e.g., public health, or community psychology)
Five years college experience teaching in a variety of delivery modes including online
Ten years of work experience in the human services, including at least five year of work experience as an administrator or leader in a human services organization
The School/Academic Department: The Human Services Department offers several majors and minors designed for students whose career goals include positions and advancement in a variety of social and human service arenas. Through the three human service degree programs, students gain the knowledge and skills needed to provide effective social services to a range of individuals and groups within human services organizations.
