We are now hiring for an full-time Executive Director of Legal Aid Society to join the GO Team!
Directs the operations of the legal services program of Metropolitan Family Services, collaborating as appropriate with Metropolitan Family Services administrative departments.
Serves as the public face of LAS carrying out a leadership role in local, state and national networks of legal aid, client and social services communities.
Provides leadership and structural support for staff to deliver high quality work of maximum impact for clients.
Works with the LAS board so that members actively contribute to LAS’ success including participation in program planning and financial support.
Collaborates with partners, and service providers on behalf of eligible clients.
Provides leadership to the planning and development of the legal services program pursuant to on-going evaluation, and identifying opportunities and recommending changes when needed.
Responsible for fundraising and public relations activities in collaboration with Development and Communication staff of Metropolitan Family Services.
Develops the legal services program to enhance the multi-disciplinary programming of Metropolitan Family Services through both direct client service and systemic advocacy.
Establishes and maintains high-level contacts at the local, state, and national levels.
Participates in agency-wide planning and policy development.
Admission to the Illinois Bar plus ten years legal experience.
Substantial experience in legal aid or similar non-profit or governmental programs, and demonstrated competence in supervision, management, and development.
Management experience involving staff supervision, financial oversight and reporting, budget development, and compliance with grant, contract and legal requirements.
Demonstrated experience as a manager in a multi-million dollar organization preferred.
Familiarity with federal and state civil legal aid organizations preferred.
Familiarity with pro bono community and law firm pro bono culture preferred.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Skills in relationship building and stakeholder interaction rooted in collaboration.
A commitment to use data and technology (legal service) to track outcomes and inform decisions.
Demonstrated success in development and fundraising.
Experience and skill in communicating with a strong active board of directors.
Ability to establish and maintain close working relationships with an experienced staff.Possession of a JD and Illinois license in good standing
