Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology (EEOB) at Iowa State University seeks applicants for a Research Associate II who will be responsible for assisting with various ongoing research projects pertaining to water quality and wetland restoration.
Primary responsibilities of this position include using novel Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis techniques to identify potential wetland restoration sites and develop preliminary restoration designs; assisting with other GIS data analysis and data management needs; and regularly assisting with field sampling. This position will communicate regularly with both internal and external collaborators and assist in developing reports and professional publications.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this position. Excellent analytical abilities and extensive knowledge of GIS technology and data analysis techniques will be necessary to complete day-to-day responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in environmental science or related field. Extensive experience with the Esri ArcGIS software, including Python application development. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Access, and Word. Experience in GIS analyses applied to wetlands. Experience with collection of water quality samples and field data.
