The Contracts and Grants Analyst serves as the department's research analyst. The position will assist with contract and grant administration, fiscal and administrative report production, financial analysis, budget projections, and daily business operations. This individual is also responsible for the effort reporting of assigned faculty and staff and for analysis, implementation, and identification of cost sharing on extramural research.--Knowledge of contracts and grants submission and management.--Knowledge in budget preparation based on narrative research plans and designs, analysis and forecasting. --Knowledge of cost allocation methods. --Knowledge of Federal, State, and private grant budgeting guidelines.--Experience in use of Windows, Excel, Word, Access, Outlook. Ability to learn software systems in human resources, payroll and accounting systems (Cayuse 424, Cayuse SP, Kuali Financial System, Decision Support, PeopleSoft, PPS and OPTRS preferred). --Ability to learn all aspects of contracts and grant administration, including preparation, accounting and budgeting.--Basic skills to research, analyze, troubleshoot, and problem solve.--Knowledge of accounting principles and techniques sufficient for accurate analysis and preparation of all payroll and financial activities. --Basic skills to research, collect, analyze, and interpret data.--Knowledge of University accounting, payroll (Davis Campus and UCDHS preferred), personnel and benefits policies and procedures.--Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.For Contracts and Grants Analyst II level:--Experience in contracts and grants submission and management--Experience in budget preparation based on narrative research plans and designs, analysis and forecasting.--Knowledge of all aspects of contracts and grant administration, including preparation, accounting and budgeting.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
