UW Medicine Internal Control has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, 50% FTE, Internal Control Analyst. This individual will be responsible for supporting the UW Medicine internal controls policy program for the UW Medicine hospitals (Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, and UW Medical Center). This position serves as a internal control resource for the hospitals and health system accounting leadership. This position will work closely with department managers and staff to prioritize, coordinate, and implement improvements.
Policies & Procedures: Assisting with drafting standardized policies and procedures, and develop and communicate consistent controls across the health system departments. Ensure consistent application of approved policies, controls, and procedures.
Advising: Research state, county and other policy and regulatory guidance to advise department managers and staff with regard to internal control policy questions.
Training, Testing, & Monitoring: Grant system access and perform testing and monitoring of control risk areas such as procards, employee reimbursements, travel, cash collections. Assist management in the resolution of complex procedural, process, or control problems.
Participate in a variety of complex and specialized projects which assist management in understanding the financial implication of services provided to its community. Other special projects assigned by the UW Medicine Internal Controls Director.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field AND two to three years of experience as a financial management professional in a large hospital or healthcare system.
Academic Medical Center or large integrated health system experience is strongly preferred.
Understanding of internal control guidelines and healthcare finance.
Functional knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
