1. Serves as the primary media contact for sports assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications. 2. Assists in the management of the Department’s social media outlets. 3. Assists with the maintenance of the Department’s athletics website (www.pacifictigers.com). 4. Writes and disseminates press releases. 5. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications, designs, edits, and produces publications. 6. Assists with the video production of home athletics events, as well as highlights and special features. 7. Provides audio commentary during broadcasts of athletics events, as necessary. 8. Assists with research and video presentations for the Athletics Hall of Fame and Stagg Awards. 9. Assists in the supervision of student staff. 10. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience • Excellent oral and written communication skills; • Working knowledge of desktop publishing tools (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator); • Ability to utilize statistical software (StatCrew Basketball, Baseball/Softball, Volleyball, Soccer); • Basic knowledge of NCAA, Conference and University of the Pacific rules and regulations; • Familiarity with social media outlets; • Ability to work collaboratively in team environment; • Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work successfully with all levels of the organization and diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
Education/Experience/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in journalism, public relations, or a related field. At least one year of experience in intercollegiate athletic media relations preferred; experience may have been during academic scholarship or internship.
