Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time, 9-month position of Visiting Assistant Professor and Sculptor-in-Residence in the Department of Art and Art History to begin September 1, 2018.
Minimum Required Qualifications: We seek candidates who have an MFA degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to first-, second-, and third-place winners of the Virginia A. Groot Foundation award (http://www.virginiaagrootfoundation.org/). The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
Major/Essential Functions: The teaching assignment for this position will include one course per semester in the candidate’s area of expertise; courses will be open to art majors as well as non-art majors. Other responsibilities include: maintaining an on-campus studio open to all students, faculty, and campus visitors; service as a resource through activities such as student critiques, class visits, lectures, and community building; and developing and delivering departmental programming. The successful candidate will have access to special Groot Foundation funding for supplies and on-campus programming.
