It is the mission of Parking & Transportation Services to provide high quality parking and transportation resources to the university community with a focus on well-maintained, safe & secure areas, while being responsive and providing effective/efficient customer service.
As a uniformed employee of Parking & Transportation Services you will conduct daily monitoring of parking facilities and lots used, owned, leased or temporarily occupied in whole or in party by Carnegie Mellon University, as well as conduct patrol rounds of university parking areas to insure the safety and security of the assigned occupants/users. You will carry out all university parking policies and regulations, investigate and make initial and supplemental written and/or electronic reports concerning suspicious activities.
Patrolling all designated university parking areas and reporting on any suspicious activity and persons or unsafe conditions
Writing and issuing Carnegie Mellon University parking citations/tickets for university parking violations
Serving and reporting on exceptions to proper conditions or university parking lots
Applying wheel locks/boots to vehicles
Identifying and assisting in the towing of vehicles parked illegally on university property in accordance with department procedures
Responding punctually to all assigned details and immediately to any emergency
Cooperating with departmental supervision and university administration to ensure a harmonious interaction vital to providing a high quality of service to the university community
Performing motorist assistance services upon request
Assisting in monthly meter collection
Investigating parking gate malfunctions; performing evaluation of gate mechanism and minor repairs to mechanical and electrical devices
Facilitating the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on and immediately adjacent to the main campus, and enforcing university parking regulations as required
Directing traffic and performing other traffic flow, access control and gate operating at special events and large gatherings
