East Tennessee State University (ETSU) seeks applications and nominations for the position of Dean of University Libraries. East Tennessee State University, located in northeast Tennessee, is a state-supported institution serving over 15,000 students. The Dean of University Libraries is responsible to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for providing strong leadership in administration of the Charles C. Sherrod Library. The Dean is responsible for all areas of library management, including personnel management and organization, strategic planning and priority setting, fiscal management, policy and program development, and facilities maintenance and planning. The Dean is expected to provide strong, effective advocacy both externally and across the university; to participate in policy development; and to promote initiatives within the university, the community, and other institutions. The Dean promotes teamwork and collegiality among library faculty and staff to provide excellent service to all library constituencies.

Minimum qualifications include a M.L.S. or the equivalent graduate degree from an ALA-accredited institution; ability to meet ETSU criteria for tenure and rank of associate or full professor; a minimum of ten years of experience in progressively more responsible positions in academic librarianship; documented administrative experience in a higher education setting; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
