The Office of Information Technology seeks a Web Designer to assist the Web Services team with the much-anticipated migration of Ohio University websites to a new web content management system. In this role, the successful candidate will interact with a wide variety of customers across campus to create and deliver website designs that are viewed by millions of people yearly.
This position will be responsible for designing and revising effective graphic solutions for website presentation. Additionally, this position is responsible for working with clients, creating and communicating options for layouts and themes that adhere to ADA accessibility and University branding standards.
Duties include: - Collaborating with clients to understand website goals, considering user experience and information architecture, to create website design solutions that are usable by all audiences in accordance with University branding standards - Communicating clearly with clients across campus, the Creative Services team and the Web Services team to coordinate solutions for clients with digital design needs, while demonstrating tact, diplomacy and flexibility. - Using current practices to design visual website solutions for a wide variety of website graphic needs - Learning and applying ADA section 508 accessibility standards to all work
Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or related field and 1 year of experience as a Web Designer.
Working knowledge of the Adobe Create Suite of applications, HTML, CSS, and Content Management Systems, preferably in a University setting.
Candidate must demonstrate artistic and creative talent
Knowledge and skills of fundamental design principles and information architecture
Experience working with clients to accomplish the desired results.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated, good at problem solving, and able to work as part of a team and on their own in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must also be able to demonstrate keen attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple priorities. A solid portfolio that clearly demonstrates your design strengths and experience in the field of web design.
2+ years of experience as a full-time Web Designer
Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of both graphic design and web development design challenges as they relate to making websites accessible
Successful completion of coursework in user experience
