The Assistant Privacy Officer supports the Chief University Privacy Officer and Institutional Compliance Officer and Penn’s commitment to protecting the privacy of personal information of students, faculty, staff, research subjects and other members of the Penn community.
The Assistant Privacy Officer participates in and supports ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, personal information, financial information, educational records, protected health information and other sensitive information in compliance with federal and state laws and Penn’s information privacy practices.
The University Privacy Program is carried out by the Office of Audit, Compliance and Privacy. The program focuses on operationalizing the following initiatives: (1) privacy education, training and awareness; (2) risk management initiatives; (3) privacy and other compliance assessments; and (4) advising, oversight and monitoring.
