Under supervision of the Director, the Palliative Care Program Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and resource management for Palliative Care. The program coordinator will be responsible for program planning and operations for the Palliative Care team and will serve in a project management role as well assisting with department strategic and business planning. The program coordinator will develop and maintain performance dashboards and assist in palliative care quality monitoring and improvement.
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four (4) years of related experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of finance, general accounting practices, and business management.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and adapt objectives to changes in resources.
Experience in project administration and contract management for contracts and awards in an academic environment.
Basic knowledge and experience of clinical research management and contract negotiation in an academic institution.
Proven ability to collect and analyze data, investigate, comprehend and compile financial, budgetary and program data interpreting policies and procedures and apply them to routine/complex/unique situations.
Demonstrated experience at a senior administrative support level with a highly professional and positive approach to all contacts.
Demonstrated administrative skills including maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and conferences, answering phones, and organizing and maintaining files.
Demonstrated strong proficiency using computer software applications including MS Excel, MS Word, Endnote, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Internet Explorer, Skype, and other software packages to streamline work for effectiveness and efficiency.
Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills (preferably in an academic setting), including the ability to work independently, determine priorities, complete multiple projects accurately, efficiently, and with a high level of attention to detail while working with conflicting deadlines.
Must be able to independently make intelligent judgments and decisions in demanding circumstances.
Ability to prioritize workload while providing administrative support to a number of people.
Excellent written skills and knowledge of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage.
Excellent interpersonal skills with strong, demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Possess skills of tact, poise, diplomacy, confidentiality, and flexibility.
Ability and willingness to work independently and/or in a team framework in conjunction with principles of community and with a diverse population of staff, faculty, and members of the community.
Medical terminology training or certificate.
Project Management experience.
Demonstrated experience using UCSD business management systems, such as Financial Link, My Travel, and My Events.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
