The incumbent is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The incumbent provides phlebotomy services to adolescent, adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonate patients, including the timely and accurate specimen receipt, accessioning, preparation and/or processing for analysis on various body fluids, tissues, and fecal material for the department/clinic for which it is assigned. This position also performs clerical duties as determined per operational need, such as answering phones, appointment scheduling, data entry, check in, registration, inventory control and supply ordering.REQUIRED - State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician license required. - Experience to perform adult, geriatric, adolescent and/or pediatric and neonatal venipuncture and neonatal skin puncture in both an inpatient or outpatient setting. - Working knowledge of medical terminology, basic human anatomy and technical knowledge to complete assigned tasks.- Working knowledge of laboratory protocols and skill in the application of such, including technical vocabulary to meet departmental business needs. - Knowledge of basic chemistry and biology for understanding methods used in the laboratory. - Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding sufficient to assist with identifying lab services performed.- Basic mathematical skills for performing routine laboratory calculations. - Sufficient computer, filing, and typing skills. - Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. - Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT - Must be able to work variable days, shifts, and travel to various PCN Locations throughout the greater Sacramento Area. - Must be able to lift, move, and handle objects weighing up to 44 lbs.
