<p>Job description:<br />A Research Technician position is available at the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in Dr. Giubellino’s lab. The focus of Dr. Giubellino’s lab is the exploration of mechanisms of tumor metastasis in melanoma with the overarching goal to develop biomarkers and combined therapeutic options.<br />Qualified applicants should hold a BA/BS degree in life science, biology, chemistry or related fields with at least 2 years lab experience in molecular and cellular biology, and with experience with animal studies. The laboratory features access to state-of-the-art core facilities and a large archive of tissue samples through the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.<br /><br />Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Isolate and prepare samples for examination, prepare reagents and buffers</li><li>Analyze and interpret experimental results and write reports of findings</li><li>Maintains accurate notebook of all work-related activities.</li><li>Responsible to monitor laboratory budget, place orders and negotiate prices with vendors</li><li>Responsible for some aspects of general laboratory management</li><li>To ensure compliance and monitor Laboratory Safety Standards and standard operation procedures specific to the laboratory</li><li>Set up, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment</li><li>Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests</li><li>Participate to lab meetings as needed, keeping up with appropriate research publications and provide intellectual feedback on experimental strategies.</li></ul>
<p><strong><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333;background:white">All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. </span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:18.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></strong></p><p>Required:</p><ul><li>BA/BS in life science, biology, chemistry or related field</li><li>2 years of experience</li><li>Excellent communication skills, attention to details and be able to work with a wide variety of staff and faculty</li><li>Experience in mammalian cell cultures and general molecular and cellular biology experiments</li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li>Experience with immunohistochemistry staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens</li><li>Experience with bioluminescence technology in small experimental animals</li></ul>
