The Associate Dean of Executive Education is responsible for leading, managing, determining the strategic direction of and financial success of UCLA Anderson's Office of Executive Education.
As senior manager of a large department, the Associate Dean has significant responsibility for growing the business and formulating and administering policies and programs. The incumbent will manage human, financial, and physical resources, with overall responsibility for business development, program creation and management, people management and staff development, financial and P&L management, curriculum development and marketing as it relates to management education programs. The Associate Dean will expand UCLA Anderson's capacity to design, market and deliver world-class non-degree management development programs in a highly competitive environment and to assure the highest quality in all aspects of program performance.
The Associate Dean oversees the creation and portfolio management of both open-enrollment and custom programs using a consultative approach to needs assessment, knowledge of market and competitive trends in university-based executive education and private management consulting as well as an appreciation of the principles of market assessment, strategic business planning, program architecture and methods of program development.
The Associate Dean must possess proven ability to market, sell and close sales of high-priced and high-touch executive programs during an extended sales cycle, with a thorough knowledge of consumer/customer behavior, the ability to develop and execute a strategic business plan, the capacity to interface with potential clients and customers on an on-going basis (both pre and post "sale") and the skills to manage the activities of subordinates who are also engaged in sales and other customer-relationship efforts.
The Associate Dean functions with a high degree of autonomy. An entrepreneurial mindset and a proven track record of growth is a must as is an ability to provide high quality services as defined by customer feedback.
This position also requires excellent relationship skills in dealing with a broad set of stakeholders including staff, faculty, and clients. Sophisticated interpersonal skills, analytical skills, ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty, empathy, intuition, the ability to listen and the capacity to interpret information quickly and accurately are essential. Proven experience with assessment tools and coaching required.
