The University of Dayton Innovation Center in the School of Engineering is hiring a Faculty of Practice. We are seeking an individual that has the desire to help educate more creative engineers, capable of developing new products, processes and services. At the University of Dayton we recognize that in a world that is increasingly calling for innovation, it is crucial for engineers to have both a sound technical skillset and the ability to identify problems, imagine solutions, and create value through new technologies and services. The primary role of this Faculty of Practice position will be to teach capstone design courses which includes the coordination and integration of projects into our capstone design and innovation courses within our Innovation Center. In this role, the selected candidate will have ample opportunity to explore and test different approaches to innovation to meet real needs in existing or emerging businesses and organizations or student-led product start-ups. The selected candidate will be encouraged to collaborate with the UD Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT) and Entrepreneurship Program, which offer respectively unique approaches to transdisciplinary creativity development and demonstrated entrepreneurial success. Additionally, this person will assist the Innovation Center staff in identifying and securing capstone design projects from industrial, governmental or community partners.

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Engineering Management • Five years of engineering design experience • Excellent written communication skills • Articulated potential for mentoring and evolving senior capstone experiences • Valid driver’s license with low risk driving record and able to be insured by the University • Because of the need for collaboration with U.S. government agencies, and the need to access research facilities, U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
