Under limited supervision, provides bibliographic and metadata expertise for a wide variety of administrative and support functions for the library technical services department using Ex Libris Alma and Primo as part of the Orbis Cascade Alliance Shared Integrated Library System (SILS). Performs bibliographic searching, copy-cataloging, original cataloging and physical processing of all library materials including monographs, serials, electronic resources, and special formats. Provides direct support to the Library Technical Services Coordinator and the Library Access Services Coordinator in maintaining the integrity of the library catalog to facilitate all aspects of collection management, resource sharing and patron discovery of library materials.
Performs original and copy-cataloging of all library materials in print, electronic, and special formats using OCLC Connexion, Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and the Orbis Cascade Alliance's Shared ILS Network Zone. This includes monographs, serials, electronic resources, audio-visual materials, and open educational resources.
Interprets and applies AACR2 and RDA metadata standards and protocols to MARC records, using the Library of Congress Classification Schedule and Subject Headings to ensure clean, correct data and accurate library holdings in a consortial environment.
Troubleshoots technical errors and collaborates with Technical Services team to streamline patron discovery of library materials in Ex Libris Primo, the library catalog.
Develops, maintains and performs database maintenance including data entry, data extraction, running reports, adding and deleting bibliographic records, and maintaining item and holding records to ensure database integrity.
Responsible for materials preparation, processing, and repair of all library collection items including but not limited to printing spine labels, applying book covers, and mending pages and bindings as needed.
Collaborates with the Library Acquisitions Assistant on intersecting Acquisitions and Cataloging workflows.
Collaborates with the Technical Services Coordinator and on the bibliographic control elements of collection management processes, such as special collections and weeding.
Collaborates with the Electronic Resources Specialist on cataloging of electronic resources.
Creates technical writing and documentation of computer system architecture and workflow for metadata, cataloging, and inventory control.
Stays abreast of emerging trends in the field by reading professional literature, attending professional meetings and conferences, and professional development trainings for area of responsibility.
Provides back up support to the Library Acquisitions Assistant by facilitating maintenance requests and processing mail.
Provides support to Access Services and Reference Services as appropriate.
May direct the work of federal work-study students to assist in the preparation and labeling of physical materials.
